Understanding What is Nutrition?

Nutrition is a science which analyzes the different nutrients and chemicals in food based on their metabolism, development, maintenance, survival and health of a living organism. It comprises absorption, assimilation, absorption and bio-availability. The body utilizes nutrients for growth and maintenance.

The process of assimilation involves processing of nutrients into substances that are used by the body. Absorption occurs when the nutrient passes through the digestive system and enters the bloodstream. It is responsible for eliminating excess fluid, dead cells, wastes and toxins in the body.

Biosynthesis is the chemical reactions that occur inside the body during metabolic processes. Bio-transformation refers to changing the form of one substance into another. Metabolism is a process that breaks down carbohydrates. It results in energy production.

Digestion is the activity of breaking down food into smaller components for absorption into the bloodstream. Metabolism is the use of fuel for energy. It involves the conversion of food into various chemical substances for use by the body. This can take place in a number of ways including: respiration, oxidation, glycolysis and glycogenolysis.

The digestive system consists of three organs: the large intestine, the small intestine and the stomach. These organs break down proteins, carbohydrates, fat, fiber, vitamins, minerals and enzymes from food. In order for the body to absorb nutrients it has to feed on these substances.

Energy is stored in the body’s ability to utilize nutrients as energy for the body to carry out its functions. A person’s ability to use energy is called his metabolic rate. The metabolic rate varies from one person to another. It depends on the person’s size, weight, age and the physical condition of the body.

The human body contains approximately 100 trillion cells. Each cell is made up of: chloroplasts, mitochondria, chromatin, organelles and lipid bilayers.

Every individual within the human body needs nutrition so that he/she grows, develops and maintains their physical, mental and psychological health. Human nutrition is important in that it helps the body to live an active and healthy life. Nutrients help the body produce energy, maintain good health and fight infection.

Proper diet should be composed of a combination of foodstuff rich in carbohydrates, proteins and vitamins. The body must have the right amount of nutrients for it to perform all its activities and keep it in good health. The ideal diet for an individual should have plenty of water, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.

Maintaining a healthy lifestyle can be achieved if people know how to properly handle their nutrition. People should learn proper ways of eating so that they can avoid diseases that affect the body. They should also follow a regular exercise regime. Regular exercises to help them in losing weight, gain strength and improve their flexibility.
